Youri Wentzel
Youri Wentzel is founder, creator of the TidalKite and in charge of overseeing the company’s technological strategy, innovation, and the development of tech-based solutions of SeaQurrent. Youri has extensive technical experience in the energy sector for the past 25 years (NAM / Shell, Vermilion Oil & Gas and Total E & P). Specialising in building up companies, control, automation and security of power installations.
Julia Bell
Julia Bell is responsible for project development in the UK and Ireland and head of Talent & Culture (HR). She has over 30 years of experience in the energy sector (Vattenfall, Shell & Total). Covering roles in project management, business development, HR, and strategy.
Maarten Berkhout
Maarten Berkhout is co-founder and overall responsible to ensure the success of SeaQurrent. Maarten has 25 years of experience in the energy sector (Reliant Energy, Vattenfall and Triogen). Activities covering project development, investment & portfolio management, sales, strategy and innovation investment.
Maurits Alberda
Maurits Alberda co-founder of SeaQurrent and responsible for business development, and driving customer acquisition. Maurits has over 20 years of experience in business development & marketing and 10 years’ experience in the energy sector. Activities covering innovation, business development, project management, and partner liaison.
Jolanda Nengerman
Jolanda Nengerman supports the leadership team as executive assistant and provides governance and legal support. She brings over 10 years of experience in similar roles from various organisations (including Unit4 and DAS Rechtsbijstandsverzekering).
Supervisory board
Jan Douwe de Boer
Jan Douwe de Boer has 28 years of experience, including 20 years at Deloitte Nederland as a (now former) Partner and Lead Client Service Partner in which he played key roles in leadership and strategic management. His vast experience and leadership make him an invaluable asset to SeaQurrent.
Hans Jan de Jong
Hans Jan de Jong is an experienced executive in energy and petrochemicals with over 30 years at Shell. His experience is in manufacturing, project management and M&A, at various locations in The Netherlands, UK, Singapore and the United States. He has been overseeing projects worth billions of dollars, such as a new petrochemicals facility in the United States. Currently, he works as a self-employed part-time consultant, mainly involved in energy transition projects with large chemicals companies.
Petra van Woensel
Petra van Woensel is an experienced international finance professional, with over 20 years of experience at ING bank. Petra held various leadership positions, including Head of Structured Finance Credit Risk Management. Petra adds expertise that spans project finance, risk management, and strategy. Additionally, Petra is a member of the investment committee of the Province Noord-Brabant fund and is a certified board member by ScaleUpNation.
Pleun Broere
Pleun Broere is an experienced entrepreneur in the retail and focuses on investing in high-tech startups and consultancy. Pleun is involved as informal investor in SeaQurrent from the start. With a background in commercial economics and a successful track record in developing his companies Pleun adds valuable entrepreneurial expertise.
Sjouke Tjalsma
Sjouke Tjalsma has a diverse industry background, with over 25 years in leadership roles, as Managing director of Royal Lankhorst Engineered Products. Sjouke adds experience in general management, business development, project management, and strategic partnerships, with a strong commitment to innovation.
Investors
Invest NL is a Dutch state-owned impact investor, financed by public funds (€1.7 billion share capital) and operating at arm’s length from the government. The goal of Invest-NL is to make the Netherlands more sustainable and innovative, while enabling other financiers to participate in financing opportunities that would otherwise be overlooked due to their perceived risk.
InnoEnergy is a smart investor and operates at the centre of the energy transition, building connections worldwide, bringing together innovators and industry, entrepreneurs and investors, graduates and employers (1200 partners). InnoEnergy’s deal flow is in early-stage innovative technologies, normally CAPEX heavy. The managed ecosystem incorporates industrial players of all sizes, investors (public and private, equity and debt), academia, research centres and public administration. In 2023 InnoEnergy successfully completed its private placement round of over €140 million of equity.
PMH Investments is an independent private equity firm. PMH focuses on small and medium-sized Dutch companies with strong growth potential. Our goal is to become the leading private equity firm in the Northern Netherlands, in both approach and performance.
NOM is a regional investment and development company, focusing to strengthen the economy in the Northern Netherlands by investing in companies and supporting entrepreneurs with their growth plans. The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate and the provinces of Friesland, Groningen and Drenthe are its shareholders.
FOM the Frisian Development Agency (FOM) provides financing to innovative entrepreneurs in Friesland.
