SeaQurrent participates is the Community Of Practice (COP) North Sea to share knowledge and stimulate the sustainable development of the Dutch North Sea region.

As the transition to a sustainable energy system requires more physical space than a fossil-based system, it is logical to also utilise the marine space for this in a smart way. But also, at sea space is limited and used for many other functions.

Therefore, the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO.nl) cooperates with other governments, non-governmental organizations, research institutions and entrepreneurs on sustainable development of the North Sea. The point of departure is that the North Sea is used in a smart way – for multifunctional and multiple use.

Various parties are currently working in a Community of Practice on knowledge sharing around the North Sea. This includes issues such as regulations and technical feasibility in the field of spatial economic development, energy, food or nature. In answering the issues, multifunctional deployability and multiple use of the North Sea is an important starting point.
